Nana Yaw Amponsah Believes Kotoko Will Reclaim Continental Glory With Significant Financial Stimulus From Gov’t
Chief Executive Officer of Ghanaian top tier side Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah pleads with presidency to back the Porcupine Warriors with $600,000 to reclaim the lost glory of Ghana in interclub competitions on the continent, according to reports reaching Oyerepa FM.
The astute football administrator made the above bold declaration when he called on the sitting president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo in the company of some of the club’s top brass comprising Akosuah Dentaa Amoateng, Emmanuel Dasobere and Moses Antwi Benefo.
Asante Kotoko, the record holders of the Ghanaian top flight and two-time African Champions, will be representing the West African nation in the CAF Champions League this season and thus suggested that should his outfit get ten per cent ($600,000) of the $6,000,000 spent at the 2019 AFCON, Kotoko will carry the flag of Ghana high.
“We cannot do it without financial support, it’s our plea that if your administration can help us with 10% of that ,Asante Kotoko can and will be able to restore our lost glory in Africa and reclaim the slots lost” Nana Yaw Amponsah told H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo.
The Porcupine Warriors, who will be slugging it out against Mauritania outfit Nouadhibou in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League, will kick start their Ghana Premier League title chase against Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports stadium tonight.
