BIG RELIEF: 18 Ghana Premier League Clubs To Pocket GHS 50,000 EACH As Government Approves GHS 900k Cash Support
The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has instructed the Ministry of Youth Sports to release an amount of GHS 900,000 as the first tranche of payment to support the 18 clubs in the Ghana Premier League.
As part of efforts by the government to ameliorate the financial burden aroused by the emergence of the novel coronavirus, all eighteen clubs will be entitled to receive GHS 50000 as part of the first tranche from the Akufo-Addo led government.
Association football has been on an eight-month hiatus following the government’s decision to put sports related activities on hold due to the rapid rise of Covid-19 and following the resumption of the sport, the state as measures of ensuring safety for her citizenry has insisted on matches been staged behind closed doors.
