Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC winger, Maxwell Baakoh has signed for Egyptian side Ceramica Cleopatra in Egypt ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Baakoh declined a new contract extension from his former employers Kotoko October this years following expiration of his in July 2018.
The Ghanaian International was linked with a move to regional rivals Obuasi Ashantigold SC but reduced salary from what he earned at Kumasi-based club prevented a possible move to the Obuasi based side.
Baakoh had been sidelined since 2018 after picking a niggling shin injury in Kotoko Caf Confederation Cup camping and returned to action October this year.
Meanwhile, Ceramica Cleopatra recently gained promotion to the Egyptian Premier League, and has signed the Ghanaian on a 3-year deal.
The Egyptian side opened negotiations with Baakoh’s agent last month and have unveiled the player after completing his medicals.
Ceramica Cleopatra have already signed former Hearts of Oak midfielder Winful Cobbinah, Mohamed Ibrahim, Mido Gaber, Fonsinho and Ragab and close to adding Ghanaian International Baakoh. Cleopatra is also reportedly closing on former Kotoko and now Esperance de Tunis ace Kwame Bonsu.
The 25-year-old formerly played for Karela United in the Ghana Premier League before he joined Kotoko.
