The Ghana Premier League is on Christmas break after six weeks of action. Teams battled their hearts out in the quest to win a game away or home.
Clubs, prior to the season, prepared with the intention to win the ultimate or grasp a respectable position at the end of the season.
After matchday six, The hunters, Bechem United, are table toppers with 14 points. The concern is whether they possess the wherewithal to stay glued to the top or surrender to another competitor when the league resumes.
Glamorous clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko occupy 8th and 6th positions with 8 and 9 points respectively. Points garnered so far are below expectations, giving away almost 10 points. They could spring up with surprises when the league bounces.
Surprisingly, Berekum Chelsea and Dreams FC are hovering around the drop zone, although early days yet. The Blues and The still believe lads, are yet to prove their mettle and a bit of pressure could flare-up on their respective coaches after the break.
Embattled Legon Cities have a daunting task in the coming days, as they have failed to glitter. Coach Bashir Hayford will need a maximum cooperation from his players, as he seeks to make life better for the Royals. The big-spenders are yet to enjoy investments made in player acquisitions.
