The eighth (8th) and the 2023 edition of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup was officially launched on Thursday, April 6, 2022 at Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
In attendance for the launching were Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko, member of parliament for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama and many other stakeholders.
At the launching, Ibrahim Tanko promised to provide the trophy for this year’s edition, while Prosper Harrison Addo revealed that the Ghana FA will provide footballs and supply match officials for the games.
This year’s edition of the competition which aims at bringing Zongo communities together and honoring the Chief Imam will see 30 Zongo communities battle for the ultimate.
The competition will be played on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, 2023 on the Fadama Astroturf.

The tournament has previously been won by 5 communities, with Ashaiman and Kasoa being the only communities to win it more than once.

FORMAT FOR 2023 RAMADAN CUP
The tournament this year will be contested by 30 communities. The 15 winners of the Preliminary Round will move to the Round of 16 and will be joined by the best loser of the Preliminary Round to compete the Round of 16.
