Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif has set 3 humongous task for himself as the Political head of Ghana’s Sports.
The Hon. Mustapha believes setting objectives for himself is the only way to monitor and evaluate his tunure of office.
Mustapha Ussif has therefore set for himself an audacious ambition of breaking Ghana’s 40 year AFCON drought as his main objective.
In an interaction with a delegation of the Ghana Football Association who paid a courtesy call on him, Hon. Mustapha outlined his objectives to the FA, counting on their support to achieve them.
“There are three things on my heart that I want to achieve as a Sports Minister and with your support; I know we can achieve them, Hon Ussif said.
Out lining his objectives, the minister told the Leadership of the Ghana FA that the President of Ghana is desirous to lift the AFCON trophy before leaving office, and he is tasked to ensure the FA delivers.
His 3 top objectives includes, Ghana winning the AFCON title, Qualifying for the World cup and reviving schools and colleges sports in Ghana.
“My aim is to revive competitions at the school and colleges level and I have already written to the Education Minister to help me set up a technical committee for that purpose.
“As a Minister, I should set objectives and work towards it so the Africa Cup of Nations is my next target. It is the dream of H.E Nana Akufo Addo, President of Ghana to win the AFCON and as a Minister, whatever we require to win the trophy, let’s start working on it now.
“The next thing is to qualify for the World Cup in 2022. We have done it before and we can do it again.
The minister assured the Ghana FA of his desire to invest in the game to ensure hos set objectives are achieved
“I am ready; the way to go is to invest in the game and I can assure you that my Ministry will give you the needed push to succeed’’ the Hon. Minister added.
