GNPC Speedsters Club Dominates GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human 2021 Accra Open Meet

Edwin Gadayi a member of the GNPC Speedster club in Greater Accra prove his worth as an international medal prospect, when he won the Seniors event of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GPNC) Ghana’s Fastest Human Accra open meet on Saturday with a time of 10.56secs.

Sarfo Ansah also a member of GFH who won the Cape Coast meet open was second in 10.60secs with Solomon K. Hammond from University of Ghana placing third in 10.86secs.

In the female division, Kate Agyeman from GFH run 12.00 seconds to win the Women’s 100 meters race at the University of Ghana stadium Legon. Grace Obour also a member of GFH club finished second in 12:16 seconds and Janet Mensah of Koora Sports club Janet Mensah finishing third with time of 12.34 second.

In the U-18 Boys, Eku Gabriel Fletcher from Ashanti region won the race in 10.91secs beating Adisadel College’s Sheriff Abdul Razak 11.05secs, with Williams Opare from Ghanas, Greater Accra finishing third with 11.76 secs.

In the Girls Under- 18 race, Benedicta Kwartemaa of Okess, Ashanti region scooped the first prize with time of 12.26secs followed by Deborah Acheampong who clocked 12.51secs and Felicia Awudi who finished third with a time of 12.74sec.

Mustapha Ussif, Dr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh, General Manager, Sustainability, GNPC, Dr. Ben K.D Asante, MD of Ghana Gas, Mike Abey 1962 Commonwealth Gold Medalist and multiple Commonwealth silver 4×100 relay medalist, Ohene Karikari 1974 Commonwealth Bronze medalist in the 100m, Oko Addy 1966 Commonwealth Gold Medalist in the 4×100 relay, Sandy Osei Agyeman, former GAA President, Bawah Fuseini, CEO of Ghana Athletics Association, Dr. Owusu Ansah advisor to the Minister for Youth and Sports among other Dignitaries were there to make the competition successful.

The final of finals of the GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human will take place at KNUST Paa Joe Sports Stadium on Saturday, 15th May, 2021. All the best sprinters will come on board to see who qualifies to represent Ghana at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
