Division One League side Real Tamale United (RTU) have GHc 100,000 from the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia. This is the third time the Vice president has made such a donation to the club.
Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu made the presentation on behalf of the Vice President at the club’s training ground, Nobisco Football Park.
The Regional Minister, speaking at the presentation, indicated that the club would receive more of such donations in the future should they continue to perform well in their quest to qualify for the Premiership in Ghana.
He added that, the club has been so dear to the hearts of many, including the Vice President of the republic of Ghana, and he the regional minister, who is the current chief patron of the club.
According to him, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is ready to offer support in any form so far as it will enable RTU to secure qualification to Ghana’s elite competition.
He added that, the club is not in the Division that it should be and task the Board, the management, the Technical Team, the playing body and the supporters to up their performance to enable them make a return to the Ghanaian topflight.
Speaking after receiving the donation, the interim Board Chairman of the club, Alhaji Mohammed Sharif Savanna thanked the Vice President for his kind gesture and also indicated that the club would perform well to defend their worth of the donation from the Veep. He also thanked the Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu for standing in for the Vice President in such an important moment.
Accompanying the Regional Minister were Alhaji Rashid COP, the Northern Regional Youth co-ordinator of the NPP, Alhaji Rashid COP, Personnel from the office of the Vice president, Alhaji Sumaila and Alhaji Lawyer Akbar Khomeini.
Also, the Northern Brothers from the office of the Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahmoud Bawumia also made a Gh¢30,000.00 commitment to be paid to the kits sponsors who would supply kits to Real Tamale United.
Real Tamale United is currently sitting 3rd on the Zone One standings with 30 points, trailing leaders Berekum Arsenals with only a point.
They will begin the second round with a trip to WA to engage Techiman City on Match Day 16 Fixture on Sunday, 18th April, 2021 at the Wa Sports Stadium.
