CODA Commissions Newly-constructed Astro Turf Named After Legendary Black Stars Skipper Stephen Appiah
The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) led by Chief Executive Officer Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib has commissioned a modern Astro Turf “Stephen Tornado Appiah Astro Turf” at Mamprobi Ablekuma South Constituency of the Greater Accra Region on Friday December 3, 2021.
It is a FIFA standard pitch, an 11- aside full pitch of 98 by 58 square meters and floodlights and yet-to-be constructed stands and changing rooms.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib thanked the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo for his vision in creating the Coastal Development Authority Agency, Infrastructure For Porverty Eradication (IPEP).
Jerry Ahmed Shaib said, ” CODA is constructed the Astro Turf to accelerate youth and sports development. The Astro Turf will also be used as the venues for social events such as traditional functions”.
He also disclosed that, the Government has put aside 1 million dollars project for developmental projects in communities and they are also building the Tuesday market and Chemunaa project.
In a football match between Chorkor FC FC and James Town FC to grace the occasion, James Town FC won 4-1 over Chorkor FC to lifted the Tornado Cup.
Former AMA Mayor, Hon. Adjei Sowah, Nii Lante, Bannerman NPP Paliamentary Condidate for Odododiodio, constituency, Nii Ashaley Asiku II, Mamprobi Manste, Hon. Kwabena, Assemblyman for Mamprobi With the support of member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije were there to witness the events.
The facility is constructed by Blaze Investment Co Ltd and MSH-Astro Turf and funded by the Government of Ghana under the Infrastructure For Porverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) which is better known as the “one million dollars per constituency” initiative through CODA.
