Ghana international Solomon Asante has inked a new deal with USL Championship outfit Indy Eleven.

The 31-year-old diminutive attacker switches from Phoenix Rising, where he became a cult hero on the back of swashbuckling displays interlaced with eyewatering individual accolades.

The former Berekum Chelsea and TP Mazembe attacker is expected to bring his goal-scoring prowess and experience to the table as the Boys in Blue aim to make a bold statement in the upcoming season.

According to a statement on Indy Eleven’s official website, the details of Asante’s contract will not be made public but he is expected to join his teammates in the next three weeks after completing his paperwork.

Asante joins Indiana’s Team after an accomplished four-year span with Phoenix Rising FC that included three All-USL Championship First Team nods from 2018 to 2020 and back-to-back league MVP honours in 2019 and 2020, making him only the second player in league history to win the award twice alongside Kevin Molino.

He has also played for a host of clubs across Africa including clubs in his native Ghana, Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he won the CAF Champions League and Super League titles.
