Luka Modric, Zinedine Zidane and Karim Benzema shared a breathtaking moment together on the back of the latter’s Ballon d’Or success. Benzema deservedly picked his first-ever Golden Ball prize on Monday night following a fabulous 2021-22 season, where the Frenchman scored 44 goals in 46 goals.

The Madrid frontman edged out Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane (2nd) and mercurial Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (3rd) to clinch the most coveted individual diadem in football.

He was billed to present his gong to a fully-packed Santiago Bernabéu crowd in their La Liga game fixture against Sevilla on Saturday, October 22.

Despite suffering an injury setback, the 34-year-old, clad in a black jacket braved the muscle fatigue in his quadriceps to troop to the fabled stadium to present his prize to the fans at the stadium. However, a photo making the rounds on the internet is a fascinating image comprising 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, reigning Golden Ball holder Karim Benzema and Zinedine Zidane, who won the gong in 1998.

Karim Benzema presented the Ballon d’Or to the Santiago Bernabéu crowd prior to kick-off in Saturday’s game against Sevilla. The Frenchman posed with his award out on the pitch alongside former Ballon d’Or winners Zinedine Zidane and the 37-year-old Luka Modric.

Benzema deservedly saw off competition from Sadio Mane, Kevin De Bruyne and Robert Lewandowski to win the world’s best player crown.
