Ampem Darkoaa Ladies striker Ophelia Amponsah emerged the 2022 SWAG Female Footballer of the Year at the awards ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Center in Accra on Saturday.
Ophelia beat off competition from Doris Boaduwaa of Hasaacas Ladies and Blessings Shine Agbomadzi of ASFAR in Morocco to win the prestigious accolade for the first time.
The Black Princesses goal poacher was aslo in final form at 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers where she scored three goals in four matches.
Her knack of goals ensured the Techimam-based side won the 2021/22 Women’s Premier League and the Women’s FA Cup titles.
She received HD+ Decoder plus 10, 000 cash prize from the Vice president of Ghana.
The SWAG awards scheme is to recognized athletes in multiple sports disciplines for their outstanding performance in the year under review.
