Otto Addo, head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, revealed that the Black Stars are under no pressure to perform admirably at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This is because Ghanaians do not have high expectations for them.

Otto Addo believes that the Black Stars have nothing to lose because they are the lowest-ranked team entering the World Cup.

He stated that the group would approach the World Cup with the same mentality as it had when playing Nigeria in the playoff qualifications.

Otto Addo told the BBC, “We’re the bottom-ranked team in the FIFA rankings heading into the World Cup. In that playoff game against Nigeria, we had nothing to lose. Nobody expected us to qualify, but we did.

“So we know very few people, except Ghanaians, expect something big from us, so there’s not much pressure. We can all win,” he added.

At the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Ghana has been assigned to Group H, where it will compete against South Korea, Uruguay, and Portugal.
