Winneba based Raphael Nii Ankrah beats his compatriot Abubakari Yakubu-Lea in a scintillating display to win the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Accra ITF J30 title at the National Tennis Center, Accra.
Nii Ankrah seeded No.1 won 6-3, 6-4 to add to the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Accra ITF J5 title won last year.
Nii Ankrah has now won 2 ITF juniors singles titles and had 5 finals in a row. “My goal is to give everything I have to be the best I can,” said Nii Ankrah.
In the girls’ event, No.2 seed Belgium’s Anastasia Huijsegoms won the girls’ singles title by beating Great Britain’s Alisha Nkudwu 6-1, 6-4 in the final. She went 5-4 up in the second set to set up a win that will leave her at a career-high in the juniors ranking. “Happy to be here and happy to win this title,’ Anastasia said.
In the girls doubles category: Tamara Ermakova/ Anastasia Huijsegoms won the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Accra ITF J30 girls’ doubles title after beating Kenzie Ana Rabbat and Sisu-Makena Tomegah 7-5, 6-1.
Italian duo Lucas Melone and Alberto Ughes won the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Accra ITF J30 boys doubles title after ousting Nigerian duo Daniel Adeleye and Ezekiel Azi 6-4, 5-7, (12-10).
