The story of Dawuni Yahaya popular known as ‘Rocky Dawuni’ stands as a beacon of inspiration for the aspiring young players in the Kpandai communities who dream of making their mark in domestic football.

Yahaya’s football journey commenced within the colts team realm in the northern region, specifically with the Kpandai Young Bayern Munich. His exceptional prowess on the field merely required a platform to shine, and the budding talent embarked on an extraordinary journey.

In 2018, Yahaya left Kpandai and joined Wings Field Academy in Dodowa, subsequently moving to Abu FC in Madina in 2019. In 2020, he joined Akim Tafo Susubiribi, where he not only secured a regular spot but also ascended to the role of team captain.

Standing out as one of the most promising talents on the local football scene, Yahaya Dawuni Sanago, formerly of Susubiribi SC, emerged as a coveted target for both Bibiani GoldStars and Heart of Lions. Eventually, he opted to join the ranks of arguably the biggest club in Ghana – Asante Kotoko – on a three-year contract.

In a conversation with the club’s media, Yahaya expressed his elation, stating, “I feel so happy to be here. Kotoko is my dream club, and I am honored to be part of this great family, donning the iconic red jersey and performing in front of the passionate supporters at the Baba Yara Stadium.”

Although he was part of Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s U-23 team in Prampram, Dawuni missed the opportunity to represent his country in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Nonetheless, he remains a member of the Black Stars ‘B’ team, embodying his dedication to the sport.
