South African and Egypt swimmers lived up to expectations on day one of this year’s 13th African Games in Accra by winning four and three and gold medals respectively.
The event took place at the Borteyman Sports complex at the artistic center.
The events which took place yesterday includes, 100m freestyle, 200m butterfly, and 800m freestyle for both men and women, as well as the 1500m mixed relay.
In the Women’s 200 Metre Butterfly final, Egypt’s Nour Elgendy and Jasmine Eissa finished first and third respectively with South Africa’s Leigh Mc Morran finishing second to claim silver.
In the men’s 100 meters freestyle final,
South Africa’s Clayton Jimmie won Gold with a time of 49.29, Namibia’s Alexander Skinner finished second with a time of 49.97, while Egypt’s Abdullah Nasr finished third with a time of 50.99.
In the mixed 4X100m Freestyle relay finals, South won Gold medal, while Egypt and Algeria finished with second and third positions respectively.
