13th African Games: Abeiku Jackson wins silver for Ghana in swimming
Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson Gyekye picked up silver in the men’s 50-metre butterfly at the ongoing 13th African Games.
The two-time Olympian recorded a personal best of 24.23s to clinch silver in a fascinating contest won by Egypt’s Ali Khalafalla, who clocked an impressive 23.93s.
Speaking after the win, Jackson was happy to pick up the medal and highlighted the need to recognize gradual progress in performance in the competition.
“You have to celebrate every single achievement; if you don’t celebrate every little achievement, how would you move forward. It’s obviously a stepping stone but we have to celebrate it.”
