Hearts of Oak faced another setback as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League week 27 fixture.
However, what caught the attention of many was coach Abubakar Ouattara’s revelation of the challenges the team encountered off the pitch.
In a post-match confrontation with a section of the supporters, Ouattara found himself compelled to address their concerns about the team’s recent poor performance. The fans, evidently disappointed with the team’s string of losses, stayed behind after the match to express their concerns about the team’s recent poor performance. Approaching the disgruntled supporters, Ouattara appealed for their patience and understanding, emphasising the limited resources at his disposal. “These are the materials I have. I do not have any players anywhere else so I have to work with them. So be patient and hear me out,” he implored.
However, what perhaps struck a chord with many was Ouattara’s revelation about the team’s pre-match conditions. “Yesterday at the hotel, we did not have electricity or water,” he disclosed, shedding light on the challenges faced by the team even before stepping onto the pitch.
With the loss, Hearts have now only managed to gain three points from their last five games. With 35 points, Hearts of Oak fall to 11th place in the standings, five points clear of the relegation zone.
With Hearts of Oak’s next home game against Accra Lions looming, the team will be looking to bounce back from their recent setbacks and regain their winning form.
