The national beach soccer team Black Sharks, face a hectic +17 hours road trip from Keta to Accra and then the final leg from Accra to Abidjan.

This has come to light after the original plan to fly the Sharks out to Ivory Coast was cancelled by the Ghana Football Association citing lack of funds for the team.

According to our source from the Sharks camp, original promise of a flight to Abidjan made be Mr. Alex Asante during the first leg had been cancelled.

The team therefore had to leave Keta at dawn on Wednesday to Accra, where a bus has been arranged by the GFA to take them to Abidjan.

Following the 5-3 first leg win over Ivory Coast, the plan of coach Daniel Kotey was to have a tight three days training schedule for his players, but looking at the road (12-14) hours journey from Accra, the team will now have less time to prepare.

The only realistic option for the Sharks will be to have a short session on Thursday for recovery and then one full day training session on Friday ahead or the match on Saturday afternoon.

Most football experts have still tipped Ivory Coast to qualify ahead of Ghana, notwithstanding the first leg score line, but with the high spirit and determination shown by the Sharks, they have a good chance to secure their ticket to Afcon 2024 in Egypt.
