Ga State Welcomes GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah as ‘Noyaa’ Mantse in Vibrant Cultural Ceremony

Amidst the rhythmic beats of traditional drums and the vibrant display of rich Ga customs, Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), was honoured with the title of Ga Noyaa Mantse (Chief of Development) in a grand installation ceremony.

Held at the historic Ga Stool House in Bukom, Accra, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, this cultural event was a beautiful blend of tradition and celebration, signalling a new era of leadership and progress for the Ga State.

The title “Noyaa” carries deep significance in Ga, symbolising growth, development, and forward movement.

By bestowing this honour upon Ben Nunoo Mensah, the Ga State reaffirmed its commitment to fostering progress and investing in the future of its people.

The installation ceremony was steeped in tradition, with the regal presence of paramount chiefs, clan heads, and revered figures from across the state, all in attendance to witness this historic moment.

Upon his installation, Nunoo Mensah, now known by his royal title Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I, delivered an acceptance speech filled with gratitude and purpose.

With heartfelt reverence, he expressed his appreciation to Almighty God, Nii Ga King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and the Gyasete, Dr. Nii Tette Kwei II, for their unwavering support and guidance throughout his journey to this esteemed position.

“I am deeply humbled by this honor,” Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I said.

“My sincerest thanks go to Nii Ga King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Gyasete Dr. Nii Tette Kwei II, and the entire Ga State for placing their trust and confidence in me.”

The newly installed Noyaa Mantse also acknowledged the paramount chiefs, his family, and the sports media for their steadfast support over the years.

He emphasised the importance of unity and collective effort in addressing key challenges facing the Ga people, particularly the underrepresentation of Ga’s in leadership positions across the nation.

As part of his vision, Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I pledged to work closely with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and various stakeholders to enhance the King Tackie Teiko Tsuru Educational Fund.

His mission is to provide scholarships and educational opportunities for deserving Ga youth, ensuring that the next generation is equipped to lead and innovate in a rapidly evolving world.

“I am committed to working tirelessly for the progress of the Ga State and its people,” he declared, setting the tone for a leadership rooted in action and collaboration.

The ceremony, which drew notable figures from both the traditional and sports communities, was a powerful reminder of the Ga State’s rich cultural heritage and its continuous drive toward progress.
