Hearts of Oak held Aduana Stars to a goalless draw at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday night as they began the fifth round of matches for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
Both sides were seeking to bounce back from their previous games. Hearts of Oak settled for a draw against Nations FC while Aduana FC succumbed to a shocking defeat to the newly promoted Young Apostles.
Aduana themselves have struggled so far this season having failed to win a single game in their last four games.
However, history was on their side given their dominant head-to-head advantage over the Phobians. The Ogya lads had won in each of their last five meetings with Hearts of Oak.
The match rather turned out to be physical with tackles flying and keeping referee Abdul Latif busy with persistent warnings.
Rich Sackey eventually suffered from indiscipline as he saw a second yellow card in the 58th minute to keep the away side in an uncomfortable situation.
Hearts of Oak took advantage to threaten their opponents but failed to make them count.
Aduana had their moments as well but goalkeeper Benjamin Asare emerged as the hero for the 2020/21 champions.
The teams ended up sharing the spoils extending Aduana’s winless run in the league to five while Hearts of Oak continue to seek their second win of the season.
With more matches to be played on Saturday and Sunday, Aboubakar Ouattara’s men sit 11th with five points while Aduana lie 17th with just three points.
They will host Dreams FC in their next game as they search a first league win.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak face a tricky test as they pay a trip to Young Apostles in their next fixture.
