At 7pm today Saturday 29th of April, Hon Wilson Arthur -founder of Skyy Media Group will be inducted into the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Hall of Achievers in a special ceremony at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. This event is organized by CIMGHANA.
At the age of 28years Wilson Arthur qualified as a Chartered Marketer and began his professional marketing career by setting up his own business – Music Paradise Shop at Adabraka, near Eclipse alongside taking up the full time role of Marketing Manager of Media No1 Advertising Company from December 1995. Wilson managed TV Market program on GTV as well as rebroadcast of European Soccer Competitions in Ghana Television.
Top brands that Wilson worked on at Media No 1 advertising agency include LG, Latex Foam, Peak Milk, Melcom and Azar Paint. After 15 months of practicing marketing in advertising agency space, Wilson Arthur moved on to establish Skyy Power 93.5fm in Takoradi in August 1997. Wilson Arthur managed the $50,000 investment with his wife partner Adwoa Amofah and his Elder Engineer Partner Brother Kennedy Arthur to become one of the most reputable multi million USD valued media brands in Ghana – giving birth to Ashh 101.1fm in Kumasi 2001, 4 Channel Skyy MMDS Television Service in 2003, that eventually pioneered Ghana’s digital TV migration in 2007 with an 8 Channel DVB-T Multiplexer network with service covering Accra – Tema, Koforidua, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Sekondi Takoradi. In 2017 after acquiring an Executive Masters in Public Administration, Wilson entered Public Service as DCE of rural Wassa East District as well as Dean of MMDCEs in Western Region.
At Wassa East, Wilson established Skyy Football club in 2017/2018 season with outstanding successes; remaining unbeaten in maiden participation in division two league to qualify to division. Upgrade St Martins Park to host division one league matches at Daboase.
Skyy fc won the maiden edition of Top 8 Division One league clubs Super Cup competition in 2021 and today is in contention to qualify to Ghana Premier league and among the 4 semi finalist of MTN FA Cup Competition. Wilson Arthur doubles as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Ghana MTN FA Cup competition.
Mr Arthur has applied marketing in Music distribution, Media, Public Service and Sports par excellence. Wilson brokered ground breaking sponsorship deals for MTN – Asante Kotoko under Dr KK Sarpong era and GN – DOL deal under Kwasi Nyantakyi administration.
Hon Wilson Arthur continue to serve Ghana as a Commissioner with National Development Commission (NDPC) where he serves additionally as an Executiive Committee Member and also Convener of Editorial and Communications Committee.
