The chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has confirmed the club has cancelled the clause in their contract with Hisense where Ghc5,000 is awarded to opposing player who scores to propel his side to a win against Kotoko in the league.
Nana Yaw Amponsah told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM the clause has been canceled by the Sponsors as it raised lots of discussions from the club’s supporters with a refined package that will include the Old players of the club.
Asante Kotoko and Hisense deal ensured Kotoko paid 5,000 Ghana cedis to an opposing player who scores the winning goal against the Porcupine Warriors, with as many as 7 players getting paid over the season.
Kotoko lost 7 Premier league matches this season paying in excess of 35,000 Ghana cedis to Opposition players.
Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Banie, Medeama’s Richard Boadu, and Great Olympics Michael Yeboah were some of rhe players who inflicted pains in the quills of the Porcupine, leaving supporters agitating.
The Club’s CEO reiterated that the sponsorship deal has been reviewed to 9,000 Ghana cedis for a Kotoko win with the Asante Kotoko old players Association taking 4,000 Ghana cedia for a win.
