The Barça Legends have officially announced that their first game of the season will take place in Ghana, where they will face a selection of the country’s former football stars.
The highly anticipated match is set for Sunday, November 10, at 3:00 PM local time (5:00 PM CEST) at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. With a capacity of 40,500, the stadium is the largest in Ghana and situated about 250 km from the capital, Accra.
This marks the fifth time the Barça Legends will play in Africa, following games in Mozambique (2017), Morocco (2019), and Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2023).
The Ghanaian squad will include legendary players such as Abedi Pelé, a three-time African Player of the Year (1991-1993) and Champions League winner with Olympique Marseille in 1993; Asamoah Gyan, renowned for his stints at clubs like Udinese and Sunderland; and Stephen Appiah, remembered for his career in Italy with Juventus, Parma, and Bologna.
Albert Ferrer, coach of the Barça Legends, will soon announce his squad for the game. He will be looking to build on last season’s unbeaten run, where the Legends won all five of their matches.
