Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey looks certain to miss the Black Stars crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against South Africa after failing to overcome an injury he suffered a week ago.
According to Goal’s Charles Watts, the Arsenal midfielder is racing against time in his quest to regain full fitness ahead of his side’s blockbuster Premier League clash at Liverpool next weekend.
The 28-year old suffered a tight groin before Arsenal’s league clash against Watford last weekend, and he now appears to be facing a race against time to face the Reds.
Partey was absent for Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in midweek, and he is highly likely to miss the country’s final group stage game against South Africa.
His absence proved a big blow for the Black Stars on Thursday as they dropped two valuable points in the World Cup Qualifiers.
The two points dropped means the Black Stars must beat South Africa in the final Group G game in order to make the play-offs.
The west African nation will have to deal with the absence of their talismanic midfielder.
However, the Gunners are hopeful that Partey will be fit for the Merseyside trip.
