Ghana’s Male U-23 team, the Black Meteors scored in either half to beat Mozambique 2-0 and in the process secure a place in the final qualifying round of the 2023 TotalEnergies African U23 Championship (AFCON).
The Black Meteors came into the game with a slight advantage after winning the first leg 2-1 in Maputo, Mozambique.
The advantage was extended just minutes to the end of the first half when Sylvester Simba gave the team the lead from a low shot outside the box.
At the start of the second half, Daniel Afriyie who was the scorer of the team’s 2 goals in Maputo last weekend extended the lead, scoring from a spot kick.
In the remaining minutes of the game, Ghana created chances to extend their lead but they failed to take the chances as the game ended 2-0.
The 2-0 win means the Black Meteors win the encounter 4-1 on aggregate and advance to the next round where they’ll face the winner of the game between Algeria and DR Congo.
