Head Coach of the Black Galaxies Annor Walker has named a 25-man squad for the 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
Annor Walker more than a month ago handed call-up to over 35 players to commence preparations for the qualifiers at the Ghana Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The experience gaffer has now curtailed the list to 25 players as the team intensify preparations for the qualifiers in Cape Coast.
In the squad are the likes of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Imoro Ibrabim, Mohammed Alhassan, Gladson Awako, Dennis Korsah, Danlad Ibrabim, Abdulai Iddrisu, Razak Kassim and so on.
The Black Galaxies will take on Benin in the first round of the qualifiers on Sunday, July 24 and on Sunday, July 31 in Cape Coast and Cotonou respectively.
Should they emerge victorious, they’ll face Nigeria in the second round, with the winner securing a place at the CHAN to be played in Algeria in January 2023.
Meanwhile, Annor Walker has named Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako as the substantive captain of the team.
The experience midfielder will be assisted by Medeama’s Vincent Atingah as 1st Vice Captain and Asante Kotoko’s Imoro Ibrahim as 2nd Vice Captain.
The trio are expected to leave prints of their leadership qualities on the team that is seeking to make next year’s edition of the CHAN after missing the last three editions.
