Head coach of the the Black Stars of Ghana Charles Kwabla Akonnor has fingered a lack of proper organization for the Black Stars’ humiliating defeat to Mali at the Emir Sports Complex in Turkey.
The Eagles of Mali soared above their Ghanaian counterparts with a three-nil pummeling in C.K. Akonnor’s maiden game as gaffer for the four-time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak tactician contends the lack of organization was to blame for the heavy defeat.
I won’t blame the players for the defeat but the key thing which resulted our loss to Mali was that the team was not organized,” Akonnor told Adom TV.
He continued: “The players didn’t know themselves because most of them were debutants and even the first time they’re playing together.”
“We trained for only two days and there was lack of understanding as well. These are the few things which affected us during the game”
“Mali didn’t play anything extraordinary but they were an organized side which handed them the victory”
C.K. Akonnor will hope for an improved performance and consequently results when his Black Stars face Asian champions Qatar in another international friendly at the Emir Hotel Sports Complex on Monday October 12.
