Ghana Women’s Premier League board member and the co-owner of Accra Ridge City Women’s Football Club, Ms. Cleopatra Nsiah Nketiah has appealed to football lovers to alter their perception about women’s football in order to attract sponsorship.
She stated that, lack of support for women’s football is detrimental to the progress of women’s Football in Ghana.
“I think corporate world does not support women’s football mainly because of our attitude towards women’s football in Ghana.
People don’t respect women’s football, so the corporate world does not see women’s football as a sport or business.
They see it as a hobby that women are trying to indulge in, I guess.
I think that if people change their perception about what women’s football is and look at it as an actual business and actual job that women can actually engaged in, I think that they will start supporting the women’s game.
If we are not supporting and respecting the women’s game, we are not going to get sponsorship because any sponsor who puts their money into anything is expecting to get it back.
And if people are not watching it, how can the sponsor come on board?
So I think that, once people start to respect the women’s game, they will start supporting it.
And once you respect something, you look at it in a different light and you will see what you can do to acknowledge and support it”, she made it known to Ghanasportsnews.com.
I like the ambitions as well as the objectives of the club.
I am a female football coach from Cameroon and buys equal ideas.
