Hearts of Oak head coach, Samuel Boadu has credited Aduana Stars following their win against his side but insists his side will improve and return stronger.
The Phobians opened their 2022/23 Ghana Premier League with a defeat against the two-time Premier League champions at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday.
Bright Adjei scored the only goal of the game as the Ogya lads secured all three points.
Speaking in the post-match presser, Boadu rallied behind his players despite the loss, stating they played so well and couldn’t make good use of their chances.
“It was a nice game,” he said. “My boys played very well but it was just one mistake that caused us that goal so I think both teams did well.
“There’s nothing fatigue in the game we played. We did well and created lots of chances but squandered but Aduana Stars played well after scoring. The red was unpardonable, it shouldn’t be but there’s nothing we can do about it.
“We wanted to win but Aduana Stars isn’t a bad side. You all saw how we played so going forward we will improve,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will face regional rivals Great Olympics in the ‘Ga-Mantse’ derby this weekend in the second round of matches while Aduana Stars will be hosted at the Baba Yara Stadium by King Faisal.
