Swash- buckling lifter Winnifred Ntumi will represent Ghana at the 2022 Commonwealth Games which begins on July 28, next year in Birmingham.
Winnifred put up a spectacular performance to win a bronze medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Winnifred Ntumi won medal in the 49kg category, scored a total of 135kg – snatch [56], Clean and Jerk [79kg].
Her compatriot Sandra Owusu will also be competing in 55kg women’s category this morning.
The President for Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib has been full of praises for Winnifred Ntumi and he is very positive Sandra Owusu will also make Ghana proud today.
Winnifred Ntumi won Ghana the first medal at the 2019 African Games in Rabat Morocco.
Ntumi, won three bronze medals in both clean and jerk and snatch as well as the overall bronze medalist in the women’s 45kg Division, with a total Score 126.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held in venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands from 28 July until 8 August 2022.
