Confusion rocks Asante Kotoko as BoD disagree with management’s decision to transfer Emmanuel Gyamfi & 7 others
It appears some members of the board who traveled with the team to Sogakope and implored management to renew the contract of Emmanuel Gyamfi are unhappy with his inclusion in the transfer-listed players and want the technical team headed by Prosper Narteh Ogum to explain to them.
The management earlier this week communicated to the players of their decision to transfer them from the club.
The players who were deemed as surplus to requirements included one of Asante Kotoko’s influential players in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, Emmanuel Gyamfi who’s the deputy captain of the Kumasi-based club.
Others were Kwame Adom Frimpong, Emmanuel Sarkodie, Abdul Latif Anabila, Samuel Frimpong, Ibrahim Osman, Godfred Asiamah and Habib Mohammed.
A close source to the Board reveals to Joy Sports’ Muftawu Nabila that Emmanuel Gyamfi was one of the best players of the team and his exit, they say, could hurt the team. “We can’t afford to lose the captain and his deputy at the same time. Their experience is crucial for the team”
The Board want Prosper Narteh Ogum to explain why Gyamfi has been included in the list. So far, it is unclear if CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah has been notified of their unhappiness, but we understand he is expected to communicate to the coach to explain to the board after training today.
