Deputy Minister for Youth And Sports Evans Opoku Bobie Addresses Stakeholders At Asempa FM Sports Dialogue
The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie (MP) today joined the Sports Dialogue meeting organised by Asempa Fm at the Accra digital Centre to deliberate on the poor stadium attendance and to proffer solutions to end the phenomenon.
He firstly, commended the Asempa FM Sports crew for organising such a laudable event to promote the development of the local league or the football industry in the country as a whole.
“Studies have shown that games without fans comes with revenue losses to the stakeholders in the industry and also affect the performance of the players because when players are cheered during a match they are motivated to perform” he mentioned.
Hon.Evans Opoku Bobie pointed out the strategies to be adopted by the stakeholders in the football fraternity to ensure high attendance at the various stadia.
According to him, technology is one of the tools that could be considered because in this modern era, football fans expect certain services and entertainment when attending to match venues.
These includes ease of access to and from the stadium, free access to internet or WiFi at the stadium among others.
He also indicated that effective communication should be adopted by stakeholders in the football industry to effectively communicate to the fans through traditional and social media and also informed supporters of what they should expect during or after the match day.
In addition, safety and security at stadiums must be handled well, match organisers or the NSA must beef up security to enhance safety of every football supporter at the stadium during and after the match.
He further charged the owners of the football teams or administrators to make
judicious use of gate proceeds or be accountable to the fans.
“Any football administrator who wants fans to attend to the stadium to watch matches, it’s advisable to invest a percentage of the proceeds in the development of the team”, he noted.
