The Accra Sports Stadium has been plunged into darkness at night after Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) disconnected the power supply to the facility due to their indebtedness.
ECG has been forced to cut the power supply to the Stadium due to the mammoth debt owed by the National Sports Authority.
The amount is the accumulation of unpaid electricity bills which have not been paid by the stadium for the past months.

All attempts to get an official statement from the offices of the Director General have proved futile.
Privately owned shops and restaurants at the stadium are bearing the brunt of this action.
Speaking to some restaurant owners at the stadium, they said the NSA increased their rent and utilities this year by 80% and are surprised why their businesses have no electricity.
It is also rumored that the Local organizing committee of the 13th African Games have 8 fully furnished offices within the stadium, yet they do not pay rent or utilities.
