Empowering the Future of Women’s Football: Division One Administrators Complete Capacity-Building Course
The advancement of women’s football in Ghana took a significant step forward as the first cohort of female football administrators from Division One League clubs wrapped up a pivotal Six-day capacity-building program. First batch three days and second batch three days. Held at the renowned Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, this initiative marks a crucial milestone in equipping these administrators with the tools they need to succeed at the grassroots level.
Launched on Monday, September 9, 2024, the course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive skill set, focusing on essential managerial areas such as decision-making, planning, and organizational abilities. By the end of the program, the administrators had gained practical insights into how to navigate the complexities of club management, ultimately enabling them to contribute more effectively to the development of women’s football in their respective regions.
The course welcomed 40 participants from the Regional Women’s Division One leagues in the Southern Zone, all eager to enhance their expertise. Their dedication was rewarded at a vibrant closing ceremony, where each administrator was presented with a certificate, symbolizing not only their personal growth but also their commitment to the future of women’s football in Ghana.
This capacity-building effort is a key element of the broader four-year strategic plan designed to elevate women’s football nationwide. The plan emphasizes the need for strong leadership at all levels, starting with the grassroots, where the foundation of the sport is built. By empowering women in football administration, this initiative aims to ensure that clubs in the lower tiers have the support and leadership necessary to nurture young talents and build a sustainable future for the sport.
Through programs like this, Ghana’s football governing body is not just focusing on the players on the pitch but also addressing the critical need for competent leadership behind the scenes. As more administrators complete these courses, the ripple effect will undoubtedly be felt throughout the football ecosystem, with well-managed clubs paving the way for even more success stories in women’s football.
The success of this inaugural program sets the tone for future initiatives, with plans to roll out similar courses for administrators from other zones across the country. It’s clear that Ghana is not only committed to the growth of the women’s game but also to ensuring that the people running the clubs are equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead the charge. This initiative reflects a broader vision for the future, one where women’s football is firmly rooted in excellence, both on and off the field.
