Club Industriel de Kamsar of Guinea new recruit Amos Frimpong is upbeat about the chances of his side against Ghanaian champions Hearts of Oak ahead of the 2021-2022 CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Frimpong, formerly of Asante Kotoko – Hearts of Oak’s arch enemy – featured for Techiman Eleven Wonders in the just ended Ghana Premier League before putting pen to paper for Guinean outfit CI Kamsar ahead of the club’s participation in the CAF interclub championship.
Amos, who captained Asante Kotoko to several feats against Hearts of Oak will be banking on his good omen and rich experience to help his new employers edge out the Phobians who will be makijg a return to Africa for the first time since 2015.
“CI Kamsar playing Hearts in the Champions League is a dream match for me,” Frimpong told Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM.
“I had always wanted to play against them [Hearts] again. My colleagues have been asking about Hearts but I’m sure we will qualify ahead of them,” a confident Amos Frimpong intimated.
“Our Club President has told us to do better than what Horoya FC is doing on the continent. Winning the CAF Champions League is our aim and I don’t see Hearts of Oak stopping us even though I admit they are in good form,” he ended.
Amos and his new side will host the Phobians fixture on the weekend of 10th – 12th September before making the trip to Ghana on the weekend of
17th – 19th September Ghana for the return leg.
