Anthony Boakye of the River Park Cycling Club in Brong Ahafo emerged the overall winner of this year’s Tour Du Ghana Cowbell Cycling Challenge first day race which ended yesterday 6th July 2022 in Accra.
The Sunyani-based cyclist clocked an overall best time of three hours, 36 minutes and 42 seconds to finish the first day contest ahead of experienced cyclist, Frank Akuffo of TBT club.
The 5-day tour Du Ghana Cycling race started yesterday with 72 cyclists from 12 Cycling Clubs across Ghana with 6 each from every club.
The race started from the Accra Sports stadium to Winneba roundabout and back to Accra sports stadium with three hotspots.
Anthony Boakye was able to hit two hotspots out of the three and win the Green & white jersey making him the stage winner.
Boakye also won the Overrall Best Fighter and Overrall Best by Points green jersey at the end of the race.
He received Gold medal and products from Promasidor producers of Cowbell and Bic producers of Pens and shaving sticks with support from Riyahd Construction.
Frank Akuffo help his team TBT to win the Blue jersey which is Best Time by Team as the captain of the team and Alexander Allotey winning the White jersey which is the Best Youngest Cyclist.
The race continues today Thursday 7th July from the Accra Sports stadium and the route is from Accra sports stadium to Suhum and back to Accra sports stadium, starts at 9am.
The Ghana Cycling Federation is billed to represent the country in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the UK next month and these road exercises are worthy of description and commendation ahead of the Games.
