Gadayi, Mary Boakye Emerge Champions in the 2024 GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human competition

The 2024 edition of the GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human [GFH] competition final of finals was held at the Athletic Oval of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium Legon in Accra, with a captivating display of speed and athleticsm.

In the Senior Men’s 100-meter finals, Edwin Gadayi of Sagnation Club secured a hard-fought victory with a remarkable time of 10.24s. He edged out a strong challenge from the Ghana Olympian, Sarfo Ansah, also from the Sagnation club who clocked a time a time of 10.45s to finished place. Michael Cudjoe from Western Region, rounded out the podium with a time of 10.54s.

The Senior women’s race was equally intense. Mary Boakye of GAF Western Region, emerged triumphant with a time of 11.43 seconds, showcasing her exceptional speed and agility. Janet Mensah, of Stagnation club, Ashanti Region, took second place with a time of 11.66 seconds, sharing the podium with Naseera Quansah, Sammo SHS, Central Region, who also recorded a time of 11.76 seconds.

Abubakar Hamzah of Okess in the Ashanti Region run 10.82secs to win the Boys Under 18 over Isaac Beniako also of Okess in 11.13secs and Kwesi Hayford of Shama SHS in the Western Region finished in the 3rd position witha time of 11.20s.

In the Girls Under 18, Abigail Aboagye of Edinaman SHS in the Central Region was first in a time of 12.45secs, followed by Suleiman Fuleral Nana Effah school in Bono Region with a time of 12.53secs and Abigail Abigail of Edinaman SHS, Central Region in third place with 12.54secs.

Florence Dartey of Ridge Experimental school, in Bono Region won the Girls Under 15 in 12.74secs. Second was Adelaide Fosuwaa Sunyani Preby School, Bono in 12.77secs and Comfort Mensah Tanoso Ang. School Ashanti placed third with a time of 12.81s.

Francis Cudjoe of Diabene Cath school, Western Region won the boys Under 15 in 11.57secs, followed by Abdulai R. Mahamudu of Gbewah Athletics Club in 11.80secs and Harrison Adjei of Madina Demo School in the Greater Accra Region in 11.86secs.

The Girls Under 10 was taken by Charity Dadzie of New Paradise in 14.10secs, followed by Charlotte Aseiduwaa of Kotei – Deduako M/A School in 14.45secs and Abogail Biney of Amankwatia School in 14.67secs.

Alhassan Abdulai of Savelugu M/A School in the Northern Region won the Boys Under10 in 13.39secs. with Jeffery Opoku Jnr of TI Amass in the Ashanti Region placing second on 13.41secs. Isaac Benyako of Old Tafo R/C Primary School was third in 13.82secs.

The GNPC Ghana Fastest competition has produced its sprint champions like Emmanuel Dasor, Beatrice Gyaman, Latifa Ali, Emmanuel T20 Yeboah, Shadrach Mensah, Joe Paul Amoah, Kate Agyeman, Desmond Aryee, Hor Halutie, Emmanuel Oduro Mensah, Benjamin Azamati, Sarfo Ansah, Grace Obour, Barnabas Agggerh and Janet Mensah.
