George Okoe Lamptey, Sports Writers Association of Ghana’s Sports Administrator for the Year 2021 lost his presidency in less than 24hours after his coronation at the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) elective congress held on Saturday.
He won a competitive award with the likes of Evelyn Nsiah Asare from Hasaacas Ladies and Gifty Oware-Aboahye from Berry Ladies.
However, he could not celebrate his latest victory for long as he was shown the exit by delegates of his federation.
Okoe Lamptey, who brought Ghana and Africa’s only boxing medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, polled 45 votes but that could not save his seat as his opponent, Bernard Quartey got 59 votes to become the newly elected president of the Ghana Boxing Federation.
Dauda Fuseini, also polled a landslide of 63 votes to be elected as the first vice president while his closet opponent Mohammed Abdul Samadu got 23 votes and Abdul Rasheed Williams polled 17 votes.
Solomon Otoo Lartey went unopposed as the second vice president while Mustapha Nettey also went unopposed as treasurer of the federation.
Abdul Issaka Pangasur and Dagadu Enam Foster were also elected as Executive Members after polling 81, 53 votes respectively.
