The Ghana Boxing Authority and Imax Boxing Promotions have officially launched the second edition of the Ghana Professional Boxing League in Accra.
The event was attended by coaches and stakeholders who pledged their support for the league.
The first edition of the league received worldwide acclaim, prompting the Ghana Boxing Authority and their associates to launch the second edition scheduled to start on Saturday, March 11.
President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham Kotei Neequaye, promised an even more exciting and competitive season this year, with the inclusion of the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Prisons teams, bringing the total number of participating teams to 14.
He also assured that all challenges encountered during the previous season would be resolved, and contestants would be provided with additional opportunities without security concerns.
The Minister of Sports, Mustapha Ussif, called for corporate support to increase the fortunes of Ghana Boxing. He highlighted that Ghana has produced 10 world champions, including D. K. Poison, Azumah Nelson, and Isaac Dogboe, who is in contention for a second world title on April 1st. He also announced his new role as an “Ambassador for Ghana Boxing.”
With the launch of the second season of the Ghana Professional Boxing League, boxing enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting competition featuring some of the best boxers in the country.
