Ghana Football Association have taken a giant step to allow Ghana’s sole representative at the CAF inter club competitions Asante Kotoko to have a smooth sail to the group stage of the competition.
The FA has in a letter to the Organising committee of the CAF Confederation cup is asking for the Ghanaian club to have fans at the Stadium for the first leg clash against Algerian side ES Setif.
The Move is as a result of CAF’s decision to ban fans attendance to the matches of ths interclub competitions.
The FA is seeking that on the account of Ghana Government’s decision to allow 25% of fans to domestic competitions, CAF should also allow for same in their competition.
Confirming the FA’s decision to request for fans to be admitted to the game, General Secretary of the Association Prosper Harrison Addo told Asempa FM, the move is ensure Asante Kotoko have the best of support for the match
Parts of the CAF COVID-19 Protocols released last year bans dans attendance to match, but fives further room for clubs whose government allows for fans attendance.
It is in view of this development that the Ghana FA has written to the CAF.
The Association is expecting the Confederation of Africa Football to respond to the letter in time to allow the Porcupine Warriors prepare for the fans attendance.
Asante Kotoko will host the Algerian side on Sunday February 14 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the Playoff for the Confederation cup group stage.
