Ghana Immigration Service Hosts Successful Health and Fitness Walk

Accra- 27th July, 2024: The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) recently held its second edition of the GIS Fitness and Health Walk, which saw participation from over 240 officers and men from various units, including the Headquarters, Greater Accra Region, KIA, Tema, Amasaman, and Kasoa command.

The 6.7km walk, which took place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, aimed to promote physical well-being and foster togetherness among units. The event commenced at 0645 hours from the GIS headquarter, passing through Ridge Roundabout, OSU Oxford Street, Danquah Circle, and ended back at the GIS headquarter at 0800 hours.

Prior to the walk, participants underwent free medical screening, emphasizing the importance of health and wellness. Following the walk, an aerobics session led by PTI Senior Inspector Emmanuel Ankrah kept participants engaged.

The Deputy Comptroller-General, Legal, Research, and Monitoring of Immigration (DCG/Legal), Philip Peter Andoh, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of prioritizing health. “We want to thank God again for his mercy and strength that today, once again, we had an incident-free health walk,” he said. “Health is very important, and we don’t want to play with it at all.”

DCG/Legal Philp Peter Andoh commended the organizers, sports team, Immigration Professional Standards and Ethic Section (IPSE) team, and all participants. “We appreciate your coming, all of you. We appreciate your participation. When the immigration service calls for a program, it’s our program, we’re not expecting people from outside to come and do it for us.”

He also hinted at a bigger challenge from the CGI himself in the next edition. “I’m very much aware that the next time we organize another health walk, you will meet a bigger challenge from the CG himself, who will lead the team.”

In attendance were the Deputy Comptroller-General, Legal, Research, and Monitoring of Immigration (DCG/Legal), Philip Peter Andoh, DCOI madam Prudence Sosu, ACI Emmanuel Ashley , chief staff officer and among other ACI’s.

Officers and Men used the opportunity to interact with DCG/Legal), Philip Peter Andoh and other Management Members present.

And there was refreshments and Kenkey party for the officers who took part in the health and fitness walk.
