The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) will hold its annual congress at the Trust Sports Emporium Arena Bukom, Accra on Saturday, 17th December, 2022.
For over a year, Ben Nunoo Mensah led administration has not organized Congress. An act which is worrying and shocking to the Olympic fraternity.
The supposed Green Team, who swapped every position at the last elections are not popular now as majority of members are worried about how divided the GOC has been.
The Congress which supposed to come- off on 14th April, 2022 was posted by the decision of the Board.
A statement signed by M.B Sahnoon, Secretary General of the GOC, said the meeting will see to the discussion of issues relevant to the development of sports in the country.
Topical issues on the menu of the highest decision making body of the GOC are: Report of President of the GOC; Examination and Approval of statement of Accounts for 2020/2021, Examination and Approval of Annual Budget for 2023, Discussion on Formation of Athletes Commission and Ethics Commission, Election of the 1st Vice President of GOC among others.
Members have questioned the unusual postponements of this very Congress with no explained reasons from the GOC to members since the Green Team assumed office more than a year now.
The session will be attended by delegates of the over 30 National Associations affiliated to the GOC.
The meeting is scheduled to commence at 9:00am.
