The National Amputee Football team, the Black Challenge, has won the sixth Cup of African Nations for Amputee Football (CANAF) after a hard- fought 3-2 win over three- time African Champions Liberia in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Road to the final, the Black Challenges defeated Egypt, 3-0, beating Nigeria 4-0 in the quarter- final before beating Angola 3-1 in the semi- final.
Ghana overcome Liberia 3-2 in the final at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium on Saturday.
The Ghana Amputee Soccer Federation have been in court since 2016 so the players solicited for funds themselves and traveled to Tanzania for the Apumtee AFCON. There was no leader of delegation, no administrator.
The Ghana Amputee Team traveled without substitute players because they couldn’t get flight tickets, according to the vice captain of the team who couldn’t travel.
They ended up winning all five games. Beat Egypt, Nigeria, Angola, Kenya and Togo to lift the trophy.
