Ghana’s Money Bags Legon Cities are in talks with Top- notch coach for the vacant coaching Job

Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC are reportedly in deep talks with former Borussia Dortmund forward Ibrahim Tanko to take over their vacant coaching job.

The Royals have parted ways with their Serbian trainer Goran Barjekterevic over non-performance and reports in the local media are that Tanko is their target for the vacant position.

Deep-throat sources close to the UEFA Champions League winner have revealed that leadership of Legon Cities have made contacts with Tanko and talks are far advanced for him to take over the club.

Legon Cities struggled in the 2019/20 season which was cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19 after managing just a win in 14 games.

The coach was given the benefit of the doubt by the management of the club and after undergoing a successful pre-season for the 2020/21 season, much was expected from him.

However, following their shameful 3-0 defeat to Great Olympics, the Serbian has been dismissed with the club eyeing Tanko for the spot.

The Royals have spent millions of cedis in player recruitment, bringing on about 14 first team players from different club to become a winsome side but Goran has been seen as the weaker spot in their club’s quest to win the league.

Michael Ampadu, Braimah Foster, Elvis Opoku, Mathew Anim, Nichola Gyan as well as Ghana’s all time top scorer Asamoah Gyan have all joined the side.

Tanko has been identified as the gaffer with the magic wand to transform the side into a winsome side and could be announced as their new manager in the coming days.

Tanko is currently the head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars B after he surprisingly guided the National U23 side to the semi-final of the 2019 U23 AFCON in Egypt.

He previously worked as the assistant coach of the senior national team the Black Stars and had earlier worked as the assistant manager of Cameroon at the 2014 World Cup.
