Hearts of Oak Poster Boy Player Daniel Afriyie Barnieh included In Ghana’s 26-man squad for 2022 World Cup
Ghana coach Otto Addo has included the talented attacker in the Black Stars’ final squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Accra Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has been named in Ghana’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which starts in Qatar later this month.
Afriyie Barnieh has been rewarded a call-up to be part of the senior national team for the mundial following his exploits in the Ghana Premier League with Hearts of Oak.
According to local media reports, the 21-year-old attacker is the only locally-based player who made the final squad for the global showpiece in Qatar from November to December.
He has been part of the Black Stars squad under Otto Addo since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique and Central African Republic. He made his debut for the West African nation in an international friendly against Japan.
Afriyie Barnieh also made a cameo appearance for Ghana in a 1-0 win over Nicaragua last month.
He has represented Ghana at the U20 and U23 level and currently a member of the Black Galaxies team.
Otto Addo is expected to announce Ghana’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, 13th November, 2022.
The confirmed final squad will leave for Abu Dhabi, UAE for a pre World Cup training tour where they will face Switzerland in their last friendly to get themselves adequately prepared and gelled for the global showpiece.
Ghana in Group H, will face 2016 European champions Portugal in their opening fixture of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on November 24, at the Stadium 974 in the capital, Doha.
