Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak have reacted to reports about Belgian club Royal Antwerp expressing interest in prized asset Salifu Ibrahim.
The reports which has spread like wildfire, indicated that Royal Antwerp had submitted $600,000 for the services of the midfielder, has divided opinions with a school of thought suggesting the Phobians should part ways with the former Techiman Eleven Wonders marksman while others have urged the club to hold on to the creative midfield gem ahead of their adventure in Africa.
However, the Accra-based heavyweights have reacted to the rumours about Salifu Ibrahim indicating the club will not hesitate to exercise their legal rights should such similar ‘concocted’ stories about the club fester.
Meanwhile, Salifu Ibrahim – who was adjudged as the Best Local player at the recently held Ghana Football Awards – is currently training with his team mates ahead of their participation in the upcoming CAF Champions League preliminary round against Guinean outfit CI Kamsar.
Ibrahim Salifu enjoyed a great 2020/21 season with Eleven Wonders and Hearts of Oak. The mercurial midfielder featured in 32 league games for the 2 clubs, scoring 3 goals, providing 8 assists and winning 8 man of the match awards, the most in the league.
Salifu in the process propelled Hearts of Oak to winning the Premier League title and the MTN FA cup. In July, he was named best local player at the Ghana Football awards.
