International Olympic Committee (IOC), have written to the Ghana Olympic committee (GOC), to mourn the death of former President H.E Ft. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
Former President Rawlings, Ghana’s 1st President in the 4th Republic, died on Thursday, November 14, 2020.
A letter signed by IOC President Thomas Bach and and copied to GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah read:
“It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings.
please accept my sincere condolences to you the Ghana Olympic committee and the people of Ghana”
I am grateful for the fact that President Rawlings was a true friend of sport during a time when Ghanaian athletes were performing at the highest level at the Olympic game.
