Japan’s Nadeshiko to host Black Queens of Ghana in international friendly July 13 in Tokyo
Japan’s Nadeshiko will host Ghana’s Black Queens in a high-profile international women’s friendly match at Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium on July 13 in Tokyo, Japan.
The Black Queens have qualified for the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after eliminating Namibia in the final qualifying round. The team will use this high-profile game to stay in shape ahead of the tournament and to allow Head Coach Nora Häuptle the opportunity to assess new additions to the team.
The Japanese team will use the game to strengthen their preparation for their participation in the Paris Olympics.
Japan is currently ranked seventh (7th) in the world, while Ghana’s Black Queens are ranked sixty-fourth (64th) in the world and 4th on the African continent. The Ghana Football Association will continue to provide the Black Queens with opportunities to feature in international friendlies during FIFA Women’s international windows to further build the team’s capacity.
In the recent past, the Black Queens have engaged Senegal twice and Benin in FIFA Women’s international windows.
