Kenpong Soccer Academy have earned a ticket to play in the 2022/23 Division One League after defeating Cheetah FC 3-1 in the final of the Central Region Division Two middle league at the Ajumako Asaasan Park in Ajumako.
The team owned by astute Business man Kennedy Adgyapong headed into the final with a perfect record, winning their four middle league games by an aggregate score line of 13-1. Beating UCC 5-1, Winneba United 1-0 and New Star FC 5-0 in the group games.
The Winneba-based side defeated GAP Football Academy 2-0 in the semifinal, before climaxing what has been an impressive run with a 3-1 victory against Cheetah in the final earlier today.
In the final, Kenpong Soccer Academy wasted no time making their intentions known as they went into the break 1-0 up, courtesy a penalty converted by Daniel Ziaba.
Cheetah in the first half had a man sent off and Kenpong took advantage of that to score two quick goals at the start of the second half through Thomas Akrugu and Emmanuel Egyiri.
Cheetah pulled a goal back later on in the game but it was too late as Kenpong held on to win 3-1 and in the process secure qualification to the Division One League.
Kenpong Soccer Academy will be amongst 16 teams to fight for Premier League promotion from Zone Three next season.
Meanwhile, the 2022/23 Division One League will kick off on the weekend of Friday, September 30 to Monday, October 3, 2022 across the three Zones.
